The Brad Pitt Rule
A quick way to tell whether a woman who turned down a date is actually interested, from The Art of Manliness.
How it works
Ask her out. If she says yes, great. If she gives an excuse, imagine Brad Pitt had asked her instead. Would she still be "busy studying" or "out with friends"? Probably not. She'd rearrange her plans.
You're not Brad Pitt, but the principle holds: a woman who's interested makes time.
The clincher
Sometimes there's a real reason she can't make it: work, family, an emergency. The difference is that an interested woman suggests another time: "I can't do Saturday, but how about next weekend?"
- Excuse + alternative → she's interested. Make the new plan.
- Excuse, no alternative → she's not. Don't ask again. It only gets awkward. Move on to someone who appreciates you.
